Ditty Bops

Ditty Bops began with a simple idea: make space for veterans and artists to create together. More than 70 veterans and their families joined OKC artists in free workshops, using Morse code as a spark to explore personal messages through rhythm, text, movement, mask-making and visual art. The performance was the living result: a powerful, vulnerable, authentic and brave mosaic of life after service, created within a community learning to move beyond “thank you for your service.”
Supported by an artistic company spanning many backgrounds and disciplines, veteran voices took center stage, shifting between isolation and intimacy, routine and rupture, humor and heartbreak … with SPARK!’s unique creative flair. The work did not seek to fix, pathologize or explain; it invited us to bear witness, to listen and to belong to one another a little more than we did the hour before. In a season of division, Ditty Bops expanded the story of the American veteran into a story of our shared humanity.
An ASL interpreter was present at all performances.
