shift presented a diverse array of styles, mediums, and artistic approaches, each uniquely engaging with the central theme of change. While these works differed in expression, they were unified by a shared foundation: they embodied the staff of Oklahoma Contemporary’s reflections on change, both in the world around them and within their own experiences.
shift was a testament to the transformative power of creativity, highlighting the endless possibilities that come with change. As we navigate increasingly complex lives, we embrace the evolving landscapes of time in our art. Through a variety of mediums, featured works reflected on the process of artistic development and self-discovery. This exhibition revealed states of metamorphosis, inviting exploration of the many ways change shapes our lives and the world around us.

About the Curators
Evan Anderson is a visitor experience supervisor. After joining Oklahoma Contemporary in 2021, Evan received an associate degree in visual arts in the spring of 2023 and has worked within the community as an active photographer for a number of local public programs. Evan also took part in Oklahoma Contemporary's 2022 staff exhibition, art_work_2022, where he displayed his photography for the first time. As a photographer and practicing creative director, Evan combines his love for art with his love for collaborating with other like-minded creative individuals in Oklahoma.
Nym Hansen is a passionate artist, an ever-curious storyteller and an animated host in addition to their role as Oklahoma Contemporary's visitor experience supervisor. They have experimented with many creative practices, including writing horror short stories, painting in a myriad of mediums and crafting immersive, interactive environments. As an artist, they are infatuated with vibrant saturation, maximalism and anything with a narrative.
Iman Knox oversees and tracks inventory, sales, visual representation and the overall success of Shop Contemporary as retail coordinator. Iman attained her associate’s in business marketing and management in 2019 and continued her education at Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, Ga., where she was able to gain in-depth knowledge of marketing and design in the fashion industry. Inspired by the street where she grew up in Detroit, Iman established her own online clothing business, House of Northbrook, where she utilizes various design techniques to repurpose clothing and accessories. She is continuously inspired by Oklahoma Contemporary’s ever-changing exhibitions, and feels they allow her to grow as an artist and designer.
Special thanks to the entire Oklahoma Contemporary staff for their support of and participation in this exhibition.
